The test checks how much testosterone, a hormone, is in your blood. Testosterone is important for both men and women, though men have a lot more of it.

If your testosterone level is too high or too low, it can cause health problems. For example:

• Men with low testosterone might have issues like low energy, trouble building muscle, or problems with sex.
• Women with too much testosterone might have irregular periods, more body hair, or problems with their ovaries (like PCOS).
