Carcino Embryonic Antigen (Cea)

Carcinoembryonic Antigen (CEA) is a protein that is typically produced during fetal development, with production stopping before birth. However, in adults, the expression of CEA can become elevated in various types of cancers, particularly in ovarian cancer. Due to this, CEA is commonly used as a tumor marker to help in the diagnosis, monitoring, and management of cancer, as elevated levels may indicate the presence of malignancy.
