C-peptide is a protein that enters the bloodstream when the pancreas makes insulin. A C-peptide test measures how much insulin your body produces. This test helps doctors determine how well your body is making insulin and can help distinguish between Type 1 diabetes (where the body makes little to no insulin) and Type 2 diabetes (where the body makes insulin but doesn't use it properly).
